Below is a short summary in English of the charity project “Helping children and teachers of Lugansk”.
The project started in 2014, the year when the city of Lugansk was subjected to airstrikes, indiscriminate shelling and blockade. The main categories of children who receive assistance are orphans, families in difficult life situations, with parents who died since 2014, children living in foster families, suffering from chronic diseases, disabled, children who stayed in Lugansk throughout the war time, under fire. Below are our main “actions”:
New Year celebrations including Christmas shows presented usually by Lugansk academic doll theater, various games and entertainments and generous sweet gifts. The celebrations were attended by 550 kids in 2015, 1000 kids in 2016, 600 kids in 2017, 600 kids in 2018.
Master classes where children are given lessons in creative skills in a game-like manner, e.g. “Art-Marathon”, 2016, for 120 kids, “Believe in yourself”, 2016, for 300 kids, “Suspended summer”, 2016, over 100 kids, “Summer: Protect children” in 2015 with 17 master classes for 732 kids.
Large-scale parties/celebrations where children are playing games, singing songs and receive various gifts: “Happy Day”, “Lenka’s Day”, “Live, Lugansk”, 2015, for a total of 580 kids
“Solidarity” action in 2015 where our financial support helped survive 510 families of Lugansk teachers in the most miserable conditions who did not receive salaries and pensions for more than half a year.
“Oldies like kids”, 2015/2017 where we support retired teachers from Lugansk, mostly those who are bedridden with illnesses and in very poor financial condition
Smaller actions like targeted assistance to kindergartens 42 and 74, to children home of Belinski family, to 60 first-graders, to young artists, “Magic summer” – unexpected holidays for Elena and Veronica, and sending humanitarian help.
